Gainesville: Dance Gainesville! A community project to make dance information in and around Gainesville, Florida accessible. All dancers are invited to subscribe to and send infomation to be posted in Dance Gainesville's weekly e-newsletter, Dance News!, by emailing tangogainesville(AT)aol.com. Gainesville Dance Calendar Part of an iternational dance calendar site. Gainesville Oldtime Dance Society (GODS) A contra dance group that sponsors two monthly dances, first Sundays and third Saturdays, and the annual Dancing with the Gods Weekend in February. Greenwood Morris Inisheer Irish Dance Co. International Folk Dance Club A student club that offers cultural awareness, good exercise, and international fellowship through instruction, practice, and performance of authentic traditional folk dances from all around the world. Studio Percussion A non-profit organization that specializes in using drums and percussion to encourage, inspire, and motivate students towards community and leadership development. Zydeco Wednesdays Around Florida: The Florida Folk Dance Council A listing of assorted folk dance classes and workshops throughout Florida, organized by community. Florida Folk Festival One of the oldest folk festivals of its kind, it is one of Florida's largest music events. It takes place each Memorial Day weekend in White Springs. Florida North Branch, Royal Scottish Country Dance Society One of three Florida branches of the RSCDS in Scotland, the Florida North Branch offers a listing of classes, workshops, balls and other resources throughout the northern section of the state. Florida State Fiddlers Association A group of musicians and music-loving friends organized for the purpose of holding a yearly convention and fiddle contest, and to increase communication among old-time musicians in Florida. Folk Dance in Jacksonville and St. Augustine A resource for Floridians interested in assorted folk dance styles, including English Country Dance, contra dance, Scottish County Dance and Israeli Folk Dance. Friends of Florida Folk An organization of folk musicians throughout the state of Florida. Will McLean Music Festival Dedicated to the memory of Florida's Troubadour, Will McLean, the annual event in Dade City works to promote and preserve Florida folk music for future generations. Beyond Florida: Country Dance and Song Society (CDSS) An association of people and groups with a common interest in English and Anglo-American folk dance, music and song. Members are recreational dancers, musicians, singers, teachers, callers, dance historians and people just having fun. Activities of affiliated groups include dances, concerts, song gatherings, festivals and residential camps. |
